Training "Financing Innovation in Small Businesses and Start-up Firms"

On July 12-13, 2012 the training "Financing Innovation in Small Businesses and Start-up Firms" was held in Minsk at Belarusian State University (Leningradskaya Str. 16). The training was a part of a series of international seminars "Current issues related to implementation in Belarus of recommendations of the Survey of Innovation Development of the Republic of Belarus". It was organized by the Belarusian Institute of System Analysis and Information Support of Scientific and Technical Sphere under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus.
 
29 persons: representatives from SMEs, entities of innovation activities and officials of state administration participated in the training.
 
The speaker of the training was Dr Joce Palacin (Spain), head of Economic Cooperation and Integration Division of United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
 
Main topics discussed in the training included:
   - the nature and financing of innovative enterprises
   - from idea to start-ups: the role of public initiatives
   - business angels and early-stage financing
   - early-stage growth: venture capital and other financial intermediaries
   - financial development and public financial markets
   - design, implementation and evaluation of early-stage policies.
 
By the end of the training, participants were awarded certificates.
