Summary
The remote device for temperature measuring with 10-4 °C accuracy was made using monocrystal CdP2.
Description
Operation of the sensing device is based on the property of CdP2 monocrystal to change its optical activity alongside with the temperature. When linearly polarized light is passing through the temperature-sensing element made of cadmium diphosphide located in the temperature measuring zone, the light changes the plane of polarization by angle Δφ° regarding the initial azimuth: Δφ° = (ρ0 + βt)·l, where ρ0 – substance specific rotation 0 °C; l – temperature-sensing element plate thickness; β – temperature coefficient of the optical activity; t – temperature in °C.
Technology type
Technical advantages and economic benefits
Responsivity of the presumptive device increases up to 104 °C owing to utilization of active cadmium diphosphide crystals with high specific optical activity temperature coefficient.
