Summary

A generating environment Cr:ZnSe has been developed to obtain coherent radiation at room temperature.Yields generation of tuneable in the range of 2.0-3.0 μm (αmax=2.6 μm) laser radiation with efficiency up to 73%, and threshold generation less than 0.2 mJ/cm2 by optical injection at a wavelength of ~ 1.8 μm.

Description

A generating environment Cr:ZnSe has been developed to obtain coherent radiation at room temperature. Yields generation of tuneable in the range of 2.0-3.0 μm (αmax=2.6 μm) laser radiation with efficiency up to 73%, and threshold generation less than 0.2 mJ/cm2 by optical injection at a wavelength of ~ 1.8 μm. Passive losses at a wavelength of 2.5 μm are less than 0.1 cm-1, the quotient of absorption in the maximum of the absorption band during production can be adjusted in the range of 0-30 cm-1, FOM - more than 150.
The development is meant for use as a material for active elements of compact tuneable lasers with optical injection for medicine (neurosurgery, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, urology), optical communications, spectroscopy and ecological monitoring of the atmosphere. Provides injection through semiconductor diode lasers with the maximum band of radiation of about 1.8 μm.
According to technical parameters, the developed generating environment exceeds best commercial solid-state laser environment of medium IR range MgF2:Co2+ (1.75-2.25 μm) in terms of efficiency, radiation resistance and generation coverage range, thus, rivalling best world prototypes.
