Summary

Radar is designed for visualization of internal structure of building constructions, detection of different defects (cracks, air cavities), heterogeneities (alien dielectric and metal inclusions, safes, secret compartments), evaluation of their depth and approximate geometry, and wall thickness in case of unilateral access can be evaluated as well. Radars can be used in civil engineering, emergency cases, archeology, services dealing with expertise, investigation and security services.

Description

The work of the radar is based on the ability of microwaves to penetrate into optically non-transparent mediums and partially reflect from any heterogeneity on their way. To detect hidden objects the frequency of probing signal changes in broad band, the frequency dependence of reflected signal is defined and then, using the Fourier transformation, impulse response of medium with peaks coinciding with subsurface objects is calculated.
Structurally the radar consists of two blocks: a portable computer and radar proper with an antenna system to attach. The radar and computer are connected with the standard cable. The type of computer (usual or protected pad for field application) is agreed with the client. Power supply is provided by 4 AA accumulators, a charging device is in the specified number. If necessary a network adapter can also be delivered. The specified number includes software for visualization of the internal structure of an object. Maximum depth of detecting heterogeneity in concrete – 0,5m. Accuracy of detecting of heterogeneity location in all planes – 3cm. Scanning speed – 0,1m/s. Productivity – 20 square meters per hour. Radar mass (without Notebook) – 1,7kg. Power – 4 AA accumulators. Duration of continuous work after full charging of accumulators – 6 hours.

The main technical advantage of the portable radar over its analogs is the ability not only to detect alien inclusions in different dielectric mediums (building constructions, upper layers of road carpet, etc.) but also differentiate among them according to the degree of contrast to the surrounding medium.
