Summary

The project is devoted to one of new fibrous ion-exchange materials developed in the Institute of Physical-and-Organic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Depending on the regenerating solution (acid or base) the material may be used for purification of air from both toxic and base substances of acid

Description

Within the scope of the project it is suggested to use polyampholytic fiber containing equal amounts of weakly basic amino groups and weakly basic carboxyl groups. It is produced in the form of staple fiber and non-woven needle-punched fiber. The material may be manufactured in the form containing up to 20% of thermoplastic polypropylene enabling to produce more solid thermobonded non-woven materials. Trial plant of the Institute of Physical-and-Organic Chemistry may produce up to 5 tons of fiber per year

Technology type

Technical advantages and economic benefits

Fibrous polyampholyte may be used as a universal adsorbent of acid (SO2 , HCI , HF) and base (NH3) toxic gas substances depending on the type of regenerating agent (H2SO4  or Na2CO3) in the air cleaning filters equipped with the system of regeneration. The material has a high level of stability in regenerating solutions and possesses hydrophilic properties.

Technology differentiation and uniqueness

Sanitary cleaning of the air in industrial and agricultural enterprises from ionogenic toxic substances with concentration of up to 200 mg/m3.
