Summary
Hardware-and-software complex for remote sensing of fires is developed for processing of low resolution satellite data to detect thermal anomalies in woods and on peat lands of the Republic of Belarus and to define their geodetic and administrative-territorial coordinates.
Description
—
Technology type
Technical advantages and economic benefits
The software was designed to process pictures received from NOAA
Series space vehicles (AVHRR radiometer, spatial resolution in nadir point is
1100 m) and TERRA space vehicle (MODIS radiometer, spatial resolution of
channels used for thermal anomalies interpretation is 1000 m).
The software was adapted to process Earth remote sensing data received within
the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
Technology differentiation and uniqueness
Use of preliminary trained artificial neural network for satellite image interpretation to detect points of “thermal anomaly” class; choice of level assurance of detected points to “thermal anomaly” class during their interpretation and a possibility to analyze characteristics of detected thermal anomaly points; possibility to create an output file including geodesic coordinates of thermal anomaly points and a file containing administrative-territorial coordinates.
Context in which technology was identified
Belarusian space system for remote Earth sensing.
Technological keywords
Remote firs sensing, thermal anomaly, neural net, geodetic and administrative-territorial coordinates.
Development Stage
Intellectual property rights
Range of applications
Systems for remote Earth sensing from the space.
Classifier Used at the EU Innovation Relay Centres
Preferable Regions
Practical experience
The complex is a part of the Ground Segment of the Belarusian space system of remote sensing for topical satellite image interpretation for the advantage of the Ministry of Emergencies.
Environmental impact
None.
Type of collaboration sought
Terms and restrictions
The complex is subject to transfer only under contract
conditions.
Adaptation to local natural environment is needed to transfer and use of the
complex outside the territory of the Republic of Belarus
