Technology type

Technical advantages and economic benefits

Advantages of IMP-1 as compared to known prototypes:
– a single converter provides measurement of three components and module of induction of permanent magnetic fields in a wide measurement range and variable magnetic fields up to 1000 Hz in the initial measurement range;
– due to the relatively small size and weight, the device is classified as a portable self-powered measuring tool.

Technology differentiation and uniqueness

Single converter of IMP-1 device:
– makes it possible not only to measure components and module of magnetic induction, but also to track changes in real time;
– provides measurement of induction of constant magnetic fields in nearly all possible cases (the field of Earth, residual magnetization of products, fields of permanent magnets), as well as induction of variable magnetic fields in the frequency range, which is most common in applications;
– has relatively small size, and has a form-factor of a rod, which makes it possible to measure in locations with difficult access, and does not require AC power.

Context in which technology was identified

The experimental model of IMP-1 device (basic model) has been used to locate and register passing of a diagnostic piston through a dedicated pipeline with the diameter of 1000 mm. Upon testing, several copies have been handed over to a customer under the terms of the economic agreement between the Institute of Applied Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and OJSC “Beltransgaz”.
