Summary
The developed system allows to select the bone in the image and build their three-dimensional model. Using this model, the developed module of planning allows to calculate the most appropriate parameters of the surgery and perform a virtual dissection and correction of the bone model.
Description
The system makes it possible to select the bone in the
image and build their three-dimensional model. Using this model, a
special module of planning allows us to calculate the most appropriate
parameters for the surgery and perform a virtual dissection of digital
model of the bone. In the planning phase of surgery the system allows
us to calculate the parameters of surgical intervention on the basis of
user-spaced markers, defining the position of anatomical landmarks,
which allow to calculate the geometric characteristics of bone.
Nowadays
the software tools for the planning of oblique and rotational osteotomy
of the hip, the planning of surgical treatment of certain types of
lesions of the anterior foot and wrist are developed.
Additional system capabilities -to export models of segmented objects into XML-files.
Technology type
Technical advantages and economic benefits
Technology differentiation and uniqueness
The system is a fundamentally new development, due to the
possibility of modeling the surgery(rotational osteotomy) and
predicting its possible consequences still in the planning stage.
In comparison with existing analogues, the system has the following advantages:
-
System does not require a computer to a tomographic scanner (planning
for an surgery using the System, the user releases the time of the
imager to scan the other patients);
- Gives you a choice of tools
to view tomographic images with the capacity to conduct the necessary
planning for orthopedic surgery of measurements and calculations;
- Has the flexibility of approaches to planning (the ability to both automatic and manual setting operation parameters).
Context in which technology was identified
The experimental sample of the System has been implemented in the following medical and health training institutions:
- RSPC Traumatology and Orthopedics;
- Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education;
- Belarusian State Medical University;
- 6 th Clinical Hospital, Minsk.
