Summary

The project is implemented under the Agreement with the Property Management Department of the President of the Republic of Belarus, realization term is 2007-2008. The project involves complex historical and architectural study of significant sites of Nesvizh included in the UNESCO’s World Heritage List to make code of documentary data to provide complex restore works and nomination control.

Technical advantages and economic benefits

The Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has been carrying out a complex research of Palace-and-Park Ensemble of Nesvizh since 2001. That is why enlargement of the research and research of writing sources collecting to make code of cultural and historical legacy needed for complex restoration works of significant sites of Nesvizh included in the UNESCO’s World Heritage List and nomination control were reasoned continuation of the researches.
The results of the historical architectural and archeological research are submitted to JSC “Institute Minskgrazhdanproject”, its sub-contracting organizations, such as Unitary Enterprise “Projectrestoration”, “Minskrestoration”, are and actively used both during the design and implementation stages. Execution of these works by the specialists reduces terms of prospecting works and, respectively, terms of project realization.

Technology differentiation and uniqueness

• To provide architectural and archeological search and study of underground networks and buildings of the Radziwill Castle, study of its fortifications, search for remains of the old Nesvizh castle built by Nikolay Radziwill Chorny (Black), to make archeological research in the Alba park. In this context, the aim of the contractor (Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus) consists in providing scientific and organizational support of archeological researches, making office study, graphical and photo fixation of found materials mentioned in correspondent reports, development of scientifically reasoned recommendations on the subsequent restoration and regeneration of the castle and other architectural monuments, water and park ensembles of the town.
• To prepare for publication a source book “Book of Privileys (charters) and Normative Acts of Nesvizh” including documents, dated back to the XVI-XVIII centuries which show rights of Nesvizh, various groups of population, secular and church institutions. The acts were given by highest agencies of State power: Kings of Poland and Grand Dukes of Lithuania, Sejms and the Radziwills, owners of Nesvizh, and town authorities.
• To compile a database of the oldest part of Nesvizh archive of the Radziwills which include documents, dated back to the XV-XVI centuries as well as “Acts of Nesvizh Archive of the Radziwills dated back to the XV-XVIII centuries” which are the most significant in the context of history of the Palace-and-Castle Complex “Nesvizh” and Nesvizh part of the Radziwills family.
• To compile a database on Nesvizh history which will include political, cultural, social and town-planning activities and Nesvizh part of the Radziwills family, historical development of the town and its architectural and landscape places of interest.
