Research target: history and culture monuments of Belarus.
Target of the work: collecting of cultural and historical materials of
architectural legacy of Belarusian cities, old towns and historical villages;
determining localities of complex historical and cultural legacy within the
territory of the Republic of Belarus; development of program and methods of use
of historical and cultural legacy of towns and historical villages in the frame
of tourist system of all levels.
Research methods: complex outdoor, historical, archival and bibliographic researches, comparative and historical, systematical and cartographical methods.
Description
Research results: there were collected historical, cultural, and bibliographic material on architectural legacy of towns, old towns and historical villages located in all six regions of the Republic of Belarus for its subsequent use in the tourism development. 52 localities of complex historical and cultural legacy were specified (7 localities are located in Brest region, 10 in Vitebsk region, 8 – in Gomel region, 9 – in Grodno region, 12 – in Minsk region, 6 – in Mogilev region), guidelines on use of architectural legacy of the regions have been developed. Information about national, honored and exemplary folklore and ethnographical collectives in the Republic of Belarus which can be used at the development of touristic routes was found. Traditional centers of folk crafts and arts in the regions were defined, and lists of folk craftsmen were provided. A program of use of historical and cultural objects in towns and historical villages in the frame of tourism system of all levels was developed. Maps of local historical and cultural territories specifying centers of material and spiritual culture were constructed (total of 59 maps). Databases on monuments of great interest for development of tourism in the regions were created. The databases comprise over 6900 monuments including more than 1500 architectural monuments.

Technology differentiation and uniqueness
Results of the research will form scientific basis of state politics of maintenance and development of cultural and historical areas in all regions of the Republic of Belarus. The research is of high importance for development of country tourism, infrastructure of villages and attracting investments in rural settlements and towns; for development entry and domestic tourism in the course of realization of provisions of Law of the Republic of Belarus “On Tourism” dated November 25, 1999 and Decree of the President of the Republic Belarus “On Some Measures of State Support of Tourism Development in the Republic of Belarus” dated July 2, 2006. Results of the project can be used in projects of city building strategy as well as in other projects as section on problems of territorial tourism development, and can be issued as monograph, atlases, maps, guidebooks and in training of specialists in tourism and in practical work of guides.

Results of the project were included in the issued monograph of A.I. Lokotko, the manager of the project “Historical and cultural regions of the Republic of Belarus” (Minsk, “Belorusskaya Nauka”, 2006), they are used in the educational process at the Department of the History of Belarus and Museum Science of BSUCA in 2006-2008 (in lectures dedicated to Historical and cultural regions of Belarus, Tourism in Belarus), they are used by personnel of tourist company “Viapol” in the course of development of touristic routes in districts and regions of the Republic of Belarus. There are three acts of implementation of scientific research results and materials.

R.I. Milashevskaya, the head of the tourist enterprise MUE “Gomelobltourist” and N.V. Leschina, the top specialist of Department of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism of Mogilev executive committee were formalized with the results of the research. Research materials are used by staff of the tourist company “Viapol” in the course of planning of touristic routes in the regions and districts of Belarus.
