Summary
The IR-system is designed to intensify production processes by irradiating weaned piglets in biologically active wavelength range and maintaining comfortable microclimate parameters. The basic equipment includes: electric infrared emitters, mobile suspension system, digital control units for radiation parameters control. The principle lies in creation of infrared field, which reduces the radiant heat transfer from animals and maintains time-constant ratio of the intensity of convection and radiation heat exchange. Parameters and arrangement of emitters, algorithm for changing the radiation parameters are determined by solving the problem of minimizing energy consumption with restrictions imposed by veterinarian and sanitary-and-hygienic standards, the laws of heat exchange and the radiant flux distribution. The system maintains specified microclimate parameters and provides different modes of irradiation of piglets during the day and growing period.
Technology Benefits
The IR-system allows to increase safety of young animals up to 10% and increase the body weight gain by 10–15%, as well as reduce consumption of fuel and energy resources for heating by about 2 times. As a result, the profit due to increase in weight gain and reduction of heating costs just for one piglet for 2 months will make about 10 US dollars.
Development Stage
 Currently in use/production
Other: Process schedule has been developed for designing an automated system for irradiation of weaned piglets (No. 6/2013 dated August 14, 2013). The system was designed and installed at enterprise ZhodinoAgroPlemElita in the section for piglets rearing.
