Description
Polystyrene beads of diameter 0.63 cm (1/4 inch, generally accepted standard), chemically modified at the surface for the immobilization (connection through the formation of chemical bonds)of antibodies and other protein molecules.
Technology Type
Material
Technology Benefits
Chemically modified polystyrene carriers allow to immobilize on the surface up to 50 fig/cm2 antibodies or other proteins by forming covalent bonds, which provides the strength of binding and long-term preservation of their activity. The nature of chemical functional groups on the surface can vary, allowing to bind antibodies differently, including oriented for maximum optimization of the resulting immunosorbent.[br][/br][br][/br]Price for 1000 balls may be 100-200 USD (depending on the scale), which is 3-4 times cheaper compared to similar carriers of firm Pierce.

Range of Applications
ELISA is used for the analysis of a number of infections (HIV, syphilis, hepatitis); determination of tumor markers, hormones, drugs, doping, different physiological states of the body (an early pregnancy diagnosis, pathology of pregnancy), and others as a solid phase support, various polymeric materials, including balls are a significant share. A number of diagnostic test systems of firms Hoffmann La Roche, Abbott and others are based on the use of beads (a method of modifying the surface is not available).
