Description
The Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus offers ion exchange soil substitutes for plant cultivation BIONA(R).[br][/br][br][/br]BIONA was developed for special purposes such as growing plants in the outer space, in arctic stations and on board of ice-breakers as well as under other difficult conditions where use of conventional soils is impossible. [br][/br][br][/br]The basis of BIONA substrates are synthetic and natural (clinoptilolite) resins, saturated with biogenic macro- and trace elements.[br][/br][br][/br]Physical form:[br][/br]Developed granular and fibrous types of ion exchange substrates Bion.[br][/br]- Granular substrates are composed of irregularly shaped granules of orange, yellow, gray, size 0.5..2.5 mm. - Fibrous substrates are a non-woven needle-punched (tufted) material thickness of 2..10 mm yellow or orange-yellow color.[br][/br][br][/br]Key Features:[br][/br]- BIONA substrates are valuable breeding ground for the cultivation plant that requires no fertilizer during the period of use.[br][/br]- Contain 4 - 8 wt.% of nutrients available to plants in exchange osmotically inactive form.[br][/br]- Are neutral, the pH of the aqueous suspension of 6,0..7,0.[br][/br]- Yield without any additional fertilizer: granular substrates - More than 1..3 kg of raw biomass plants with 1 kg of dry substrate; fibrous substrates - more than 1..2 kg of raw biomass plants with a 1 kg the substrate.[br][/br]- Were tested during the growth and reproduction of a large number of food and ornamental plant products grown on them, took sanitation and hygiene assessment.[br][/br]- Withstand sterilization and autoclaving.[br][/br]- After depletion can be recovered by special technology.[br][/br]- BIONA substrates were tested and showed excellent results in growing more 150 species of plants.[br][/br][br][/br]Additional information available here - http://ifoch.bas-net.by/en/research/biona/

Technology Benefits
Substrates BIONA:[br][/br]- stabilize the mineral nutrition of plants for a long time and eliminate the need for periodic fertilizing fertilizing[br][/br]- improve the quality of cultivated plants, their appearance and accelerate growth[br][/br]- do not contain organic additives, weed seeds, pests and plant pathogens[br][/br]- have-regulated and defined chemical composition and pH.[br][/br][br][/br]Methonds developed for BIONA production can be used to create new types of ion-exchange nutrients environments for specific plants, that meet their needs in mineral nutrition to maximum extent.

Range of Applications
Highly effective fertilizer when added to the basic soil in amounts 1..10%. Recommended for:[br][/br]- growing of plants in artificial conditions;[br][/br]- adaptation of weakened plants during biological research;[br][/br]- growing seedlings;[br][/br]- propagation from cuttings of ornamental crops, grapes, potatoes, etc.;[br][/br]- recovery of nutrient properties of exhausted soils without transplantation of the plants.
